The Shark is Broken (2022): Theatre Review

Jim's Review

I have seen the iconic Steven Spielberg film many times!

It was exciting to see a live theatre performance at Prince of Wales Theatre on cold Friday night.

Jim Carey and I were looking forward to watching the play for two reasons!

1st. There was another Jim in the house Demetri Goristas playing Roy Sheider.

2nd.  It was to be in historical theatre with so much history to watch this 90 minute play.

Written Ian Shaw and Joseph Nixon this voyage covers what happened during the making of Jaws and how the continued delayed scheduled of the malfunctioning sharks and the restlessness of the cast and crew on if this movie will be ever made and succeed.

Ian Shaw plays his dad Robert Shaw and literally looks exactly like him!  Demetri Goristas is Roy Shneider and Richard Dreyfuss (Liam Murphy Scott)

Robert, and Richard go through the paces of being on set and all the delays that are occurring, while Roy is the patient one and provides some of the solace for all of them.

Robert seems always to be drinking and sharing weird stories and always either drinking or challenge the other to ongoing games dealing with drinking!

Richard Dreyfuss is all concerned about his acting ability and how Steven Spielberg feels about him.

At the third acts come to a close the story takes shape and some of very comedic lines come to life!

6 out of 10 stars
