Mike (Clint Eastwood) is sent to Mexico to get a young kid Rafa (Edward Minett) and return to his father  Howard Polk (Dwight Yoakam)

He begins his journey and faces obstacles and challenges along the way. He finds Rafa and his Rooster Macho and they begin the journey back to United States and again they faces challenges for people chasing them and personal and emotional pain.

The climatic end will have you in tears and a little smile that people do their  way

A onetime rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder, in 1978, takes a job from an ex-boss to bring the man's young son home and away from his alcoholic mum. Crossing rural Mexico on their back way to Texas, the unlikely pair faces an unexpectedly challenging journey, during which the world-weary horseman may find his own sense of redemption through teaching the boy what it means to be a good man.
