Special Video post: 3 Communication Tips from a TV Media Anchor
Even Professional Speakers & TV/Media Personalities Have to Breathe... 🤔💯
Agree⁉️
Whether you’re a Professional speaker or a TV Anchor, we are always working on our communication skills.
I met Neelam Verma at the recent #PowerOfConnection event hosted by DYPB - Discover Your Personal Brand.
We had a great reconnect meeting today to talk about speaking, her diverse story and career, and how we might collaborate.
So I said “How about a video?!”
🤗 We decided to share our best Communication insights.
🧐 ❇️ BREATHE: We all need to take a break sometimes and just breathe through tougher speaking moments... and it’s OK
❇️ STORYTELLING: No matter who you are, we all have stories to share and storytelling is a great way to relate and connect with an audience. 💚
❇️ KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE: Understanding who you’re talking to allows you to communicate in the most effective way for them, and create the most value for them.

Journey to taking my first Uber ride!
Thursday October 25
I had to take Uber from Finch Subway station to get to Richmond Hill Country club to help out a friend with an event.
I download the App on my phone in the morning. When I got to Finch Station I did some administrative tasks and I was ready for my first ride.
I was really excited!
Open up the app and enter my destination in a few seconds I was given some choices and waited for instructions
Very quickly I was given drive and the licence place of the car and where to meet.
Unfortunately I went to the wrong spot but quickly communicated with the drive via the app and went across the street and met him
His name was Andy and he been doin Uber for ten months and was enjoying it very much. It was quick 20 minute ride and we arrive at the destination
I said "Thank you" He said "your welcome thanks for the conversation"
He pressed the app for complete and he signaled if it was 5 star rating I said "for sure" and with that he was on his way for the next pick up
Evening ride
In the evening I took an Uber again from my friends office on Finch and Allen road area back to Downsview Station.
It was great ride with Mohammed and of course a 5 start rating
Moral of this story: It was an Uberrific day!

Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking : Book Review
Jim Pagiamtzis review:
“ Spectacular book that I learned more about Dale Carnegie, Anthony Robbins and public speaking! Susan Cain to me on a journey that was interesting, invigorating and funny. She shared strategies, stories and insights on the introverts and how extroverts have made in since the dawn of time. Must read book!”
The book that started the Quiet Revolution
At least one-third of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over working in teams. It is to introverts—Rosa Parks, Chopin, Dr. Seuss, Steve Wozniak—that we owe many of the great contributions to society.
In Quiet, Susan Cain argues that we dramatically undervalue introverts and shows how much we lose in doing so. She charts the rise of the Extrovert Ideal throughout the twentieth century and explores how deeply it has come to permeate our culture. She also introduces us to successful introverts—from a witty, high-octane public speaker who recharges in solitude after his talks, to a record-breaking salesman who quietly taps into the power of questions. Passionately argued, superbly researched, and filled with indelible stories of real people, Quiet has the power to permanently change how we see introverts and, equally important, how they see themselves.read more

Lessons learned being the Swiffer guy!
It was great experience being an ambassador for the Swiffer products in early May. I was giving a Canadian Tire Store at Leslie and Sheppard to do demonstration of the 3 Swiffer products and give out coupons with discount up $7.50 on three of the products
I was given some training to complete few weeks prior on the three products and team phone call prior to the weekend.
I was excited about the opportunity to share and talk to people about the various products
Communication
It was very important to communicate with customers coming near my area, I had a booth very close to the Swiffer products. Ask questions "do you want to see a Swiffer deom?" or "have you heard of the swiffer products.
It was busy Saturday and Sunday so the were people everywhere!
Education
Swiffer products are very well known for many years. commercials on TV. That helped to share insights for the demonstrations. Many customers spoke very highly and shared testimonials with me regarding the Swiffer product experiences!
Fun!
It was also lots of fun talking to so many people throughout the weekend. Police officers, families, lots of dogs!
Lesson learned
Learned many lessons from being prepared for lots of questions!
In the end it was awesome four days of learning, sharing and socializing as the Swiffer guy.
Would also give you huge Thank you! to the amazing staff who very helpful in replenishing my product throughout the two weekends

Event Review: Canada's Largest Real Estate Wealth Expo on March 19,2017
It was going to be an exciting day of learning, speaking and socializing at Canada's Largest Real Estate Wealth Expo in Toronto on March 18,2017
Anthony Robbins, Pitbull and many more amazing speaking were going to share from the stage as 15 thousand people were expecting to attend the Metro Convention Centre in Downtown Toronto
It all started at 5:00am Saturday morning as I answer the call to volunteer at the event for part of the day. Huge thanks to Sujit K Reddy and Joanna Chabot for getting everything in order.
I got up and had all my gear prepared the night before, the big question was how I was going to get to the Metro Convention Centre at 5:15am? Well take a taxi of course. Now I have not been in a taxi in Toronto for at least 30 years!
Would you believe my luck that none of the taxi's I tried to flag down on Bloor Street would stop! so I walk to the cross streets of Bathurst and Bloor to get some money from the bank machine and then tried again, waving my arms and legs. Finally a 4 door Toyota Camry stopped and entered the back seat. I said " Metro Convention Centre please quickly!" The driver responded " will be there in 10 minutes"
I was little surprised how he gave me that answer so quickly and then I looking on his dash and he had 2 GPS units.
We had quick conversation on his career and the taxi business in general. I said" you taxi is nice and clean" he said " thank you clean car , great service!"
We arrived very quickly and I paid him and of I went to get ready and start my shift.
I had asked for the registration area for the morning, so I could catch the afternoon session with Pitbull and Anthony Robbins
It was a good plan to start but the day of the event was a not wise decision. 7 Days prior I had suffered a knee injury playing ball hockey so I was still recuperation from it. Luckily I had got movement back in the knee, it was on ligament that was strained.
Unfortunately I couldn't wear my running shoes during my shift. I brought them with me to wear in the afternoon!
It was smooth morning in giving people directions to where they can go sit and where to find the various session happening during the day.
Late in the morning I was asked to be part of the group to get lunch with group of volunteers. I said "yes!" what followed was an adventure of going to the place which was fun experience. There was a Comicon event happening in the south building and there lots of people all dressed up in cosplay costumes everywhere.
We got the subway shop and we picked up 12 boxes of food and divided them up amongst us. The next questions was asked "are we going the same way back?" by one of the volunteers. We said "no way we are going around!" so we went around the metro convention centre and made it back in record time. Our hands literraly we ready to fall off by the time we reach the volunteers room.
After lunch I went back to registration and helped out for the next hour and ran some errands for my manager Ariba
On a side" she was AWESOME! The day before she clear with her communication and answered all our questions during our traning session. It was worked out well because we knew how to handle most of the questions that were going to be asked!
At 2:00pm I signed off and went to change my shoes and seek out few friends who were at the event.
It was great to listen to Pitbull being interview and sharing his mini talk on turning negative to postive. He then treated us to a few songs from a few of his hit albums
Then the last speaker of the night that everyone was waiting for the one and only Anthony Robbins!
He was supposed to be on stage at 4:30pm but didn't get on until 5:30pm which meant we were not going to get out until 8:45pm.
Let me tell you, everyone stayed! 15 thousand attendees were glued to their seats listen to words of wisdom of Tony Robbins, He has been teaching personal development for 40 years!
At the end of the day the experience was priceless!
On Friday evening we had a 2 hour training session to get the lay of the land and learn our responsibilities.

Six things to avoid doing when speaking to a group
The journey of become a great involves the
ability to being able to share you expertise on a topic and also handle
different parts of act before and after you share.
Communication is a flow of conversation
your have with the organizer before the event the participants during the event
and then post event feedback from both organizer and participants
Organizer
It is important to have communication with
the organizer. They have hold the key to you have a successful event.
Details for how many people will be
attending? Technology needs from do you
need to bring your own laptop, projector, screen? If they supply that is it compatible with
your equipment
Can you offer special deals during your
presentation? Can you sell at the back of the room?
What has the audience bought in the past?
Prepare
The ability to engage with your audience
rest on you being prepared with your topic, knowing your time limit and working
toward creating ongoing engagement all they until your close.
Topic
Having a relevant topic to share, this goes
back to communication with the organizer as mentioned earlier. The may give you
suggestions of topics that I have been share in the past, you don’t want to
share the same topic as other speakers. Creating engagement is about
understanding the needs and wants of the audience and the organizer holds the
key to that!
Audience
Being able to engage and work with the
audience is a very important part of your talk. This where your skills and
strengths come in as being an engaging, energetic and teacher come in to play.
Every audience is different and as you continue to grow you speaking profile
you will come aware of when you participants are paying attention or when they
text on their iPhone!
Technology
Many speakers rely on technology to do
their talks from using fancy powerpoint to illustrate their expertise or point,
it come with one warning technology will
fail you! I have seen it to many times
and be part of it myself. You may be
prepared for the day but it does happen from powerpoint clicker not working,
loosing power to software malfunctioning. In many cases you can fix it and move
on. In some case you may have to do it freestyle with no powerpoint!
This come back to being prepared and
knowing your topic. As mentioned earlier you should be able to do with your
slides.
Post event
After the event is very import also to
communicate with the organizer to get feedback on the talk, collect feedback
forms (if they were used) and book the next date to speak!
In the end you these six strategies will
have you save time and energy and deliver an impactful and energetic
presentation that will yield results.

You have been business owner for a couple of years. Can you share on business success lessons from you journey?
I bought a business that I've had no prior knowledge or experience with it. A distribution company that sell variety of products to cafes & restaurants such as paper/plastic cups, all kind of plastic trays, chemicals, paper products and some food . We had a warehouse, a delivery truck and of course employees. I had to start selling about 350 items from day one, created relationships with existing and new customers as well with suppliers. Huge task that people are astonished how did I took the risk and managed doing it.
I have an extensive experience in sales and marketing, a people person and good management skills. I had a dual role of operations & sales manager. The learning curve was very short, I worked more than 12 hours a day and eventually succeeded to triple the sales. I eventually the sold the business after four years.
The lessons from this journey - one has to be a risk-taker plus having a skills-set of creativity, flexibility & an ability to build and maintain personal relationships, all the above helped me tremendously along the way to achieve my targets.

Sales is an ongoing journey and process of implementation. Can you
share some sales strategies?
I believe sales is an art and to be
a successful sales person, you must love communicating with people, be a great
listener and problem solver, be genuinely interested in helping customers and
looking constantly as to how to serve them better and address all their
concerns & demands.
Those who lack patience or don't
have the above abilities "under their skin", wouldn't not succeed
in fulfilling this job, those are the ones who wish just to close the deal as
quickly as possible, and move on to the next customer, with no
interest at all in following up with the old ones or referring back to their
requests...
If you aren't willing to call back
your customer within 15-30 minutes (very uncommon response time in Toronto) or
respond to his email within that time frame - I foresee that within short
period of time, he would turn his back on you!
