Special Speaker Post: How did you get attendees to your event and build your profitable business.

In a recent podcast I was asked the 3 questions below. I have some amazing videos that answer those questions!

Enjoy :)

1st         Tell us your about your networking system

2nd       How did you use your networking system to get speak opportunities

The four videos talk about the power of follow up and follow through after you are done networking. This is where the real magic begins!

3rd        How important is community, referrals in creating a sustainable speaking business?

Been part of a great community gives you the opportunity to network and also ask for referrals. At then of my events I always asked

Do anyone else have any events coming up that you need a speaker?

It became a habit of doing it over and over and every couple of events I would get a few.

Building ongoing momentum for your speaking business is extremely important. It's a habit that you always do!

True (story) The Founder and Persistence

True (Story) I recently watched the movie The Founder Michael Keaton played Roy Kroc and shared the journey he went on to create McDonalds.(spoiler alert) half way through the film there is a great moment when Roy Kroc is having conversation with the two brothers he was in business with at the time regarding what made him successful and why they failed in the end. One word: Persistence!
We all have the ability to use it and make it happen. Sadly its not a pill, book or audio that ignites it. The only person than can do is YOU!

When I began my writing and speaking career that's all I heard people say to me You are persistent! It confused me at first why they where say it, after awhile it dawned upon me. They were not doing it themselves!

Moral of the story. You don't have to watch the film to be persistent. You can do it right now! pick up the phone. make that follow up call, call the that potential client and create the momentum.

Nuff said! as the dearly departed Stan Lee would say

Special post: Speaker Journey- Jim Pagiamtzis in 2008

Speaker Journey: It all started in 2008 when I got hired to speak for Enterprise Toronto and the rest is history! An amazing adventure speaking all over Ontario and into the United States. I have met so many people in my who have assisted, promoted and hired me! Huge thanks to Lisa Kember hired to share part of ALE program with Constant Contact. Erik Swanson who I met in 2014 in Toronto and referred me Tonya Hofmann where I started the Public Speakers Association. Doing various training programs to share my expertise, speak at schools and participating with Junior Achievement of Ontario and most recent Company Program. Look forward to the next 10 years inspiring, training and teaching the future leaders.

(True) Story: The Fencer!

(True) Story: In 2016 I was hired to teach at private school in Richmond Hill,ONT 12 week course on communication and leadership to students ages 9-12.

It was memorable 12 weeks. One of the student named Wendy made a big impact on me.
The first 2 weeks of the course all she said to me was Hello and Good bye!.

In week 3 everything changed.I was sharing with them speaking strategies and they had to come up and share a quick story. Everyone did except Wendy.

So I stood there thinking What should I do?

Early in the class she had mentioned she was tired and had mentioned it was due to fencing practice
.I asked her to come up tell me more about the sport. She said "with what" I said "imagination!"

All of students backed up a few feet in their chairs. She got up and all of sudden I was afraid!

I said "show me" In the next few minutes we had an imaginary duel of fencing.

I saw her smile and look happy for the first time in weeks.

At the end of the class the students came up to me and said "that was smart and gutsy!"

In the coming weeks Wendy was interactive and very talkative.

My mentor had a great saying "walk in a person's shoes but don't live there"
