1st:
You have been business owner for a couple of years. Can you share on business success lessons from you journey?
I bought a business that I've had no prior knowledge or experience with it. A distribution company that sell variety of products to cafes & restaurants such as paper/plastic cups, all kind of plastic trays, chemicals, paper products and some food . We had a warehouse, a delivery truck and of course employees. I had to start selling about 350 items from day one, created relationships with existing and new customers as well with suppliers. Huge task that people are astonished how did I took the risk and managed doing it.
I have an extensive experience in sales and marketing, a people person and good management skills. I had a dual role of operations & sales manager. The learning curve was very short, I worked more than 12 hours a day and eventually succeeded to triple the sales. I eventually the sold the business after four years.
The lessons from this journey - one has to be a risk-taker plus having a skills-set of creativity, flexibility & an ability to build and maintain personal relationships, all the above helped me tremendously along the way to achieve my targets.

Sales is an ongoing journey and process of implementation. Can you
share some sales strategies?
I believe sales is an art and to be
a successful sales person, you must love communicating with people, be a great
listener and problem solver, be genuinely interested in helping customers and
looking constantly as to how to serve them better and address all their
concerns & demands.
Those who lack patience or don't
have the above abilities "under their skin", wouldn't not succeed
in fulfilling this job, those are the ones who wish just to close the deal as
quickly as possible, and move on to the next customer, with no
interest at all in following up with the old ones or referring back to their
requests...
If you aren't willing to call back
your customer within 15-30 minutes (very uncommon response time in Toronto) or
respond to his email within that time frame - I foresee that within short
period of time, he would turn his back on you!

Book Review: The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris
I finally had a chance to read this #1 Best Seller and International Phenomenon book by Timothy Ferris. I hope you get to read this book review, if you do a Big Thank you!
I have been blogging since January 2009 and it was been interesting journey for sure. From by first blog post been written and shared on two other website. Created a referral within 48hrs! (I was a memorable experience for sure). Since then I have continued to write article on topics from networking, mentorship and social media.
In mid 2011 I begin to write a Spotlight feature where I interview various connections in my networking and ask they two dynamics questions and they supplied they answers! 50 interview later I put the book online and began to get some great reviews. Took it a step further and began to bring these amazing professionals and entrepreneurs to share at my local events in Toronto,Ont and the feedback was awesome.
Lastly I have successfully leverage numerous articles into paid speaking opportunities, being hired because of articles and videos I have made on You Tube by a very well known and big social media company based in Boston.(let you figure that out!)
It bring met to the point how this information ties into the information share in this book. The power of action, leverage and automation is powerful internet commodity to use in what ever expertise you have.
I truly believe the 4-Hour work week strategy works. It's about taking the Learn. Do and Apply attitude to make it happen.
Below are some great insights from the book I wanted to share
On the power of You:
" Do not overestimate the competition and underestimate yourself. You are better than you think."
Difference between Being Effective vs. Being Efficient
"Effectiveness is doing the things that get you closer to your goals. Efficiency is performing a given task (whether important or not) in the most economical manner possible. Being efficient without regard to effectiveness is the default mode of the universe."
How to handle your email and phone calls better
1. Create systems to limit your availability via email and phone and deflect inappropriate contact.
Get the auto-response and voice mail script in place now, and master the various methods of evasion. Replace the habit of "How are you?" with "How can I help you?" Get specific and remember-no stories. Focus on immediate actions. Set and practice interruption-killing policies.
Avoid meetings whenever possible:
- Use e-mail instead of face-to-face meetings to solve problems
- Beg off going (this can be accomplished through the Puppy Dog Close).
If meeting are unavoidable, keep the following in mind:
-Go with a clear set of objectives.
-Set an end time or leave early.
Favourite application Timothy Ferris loves to use: www.evernote.com
This is perhaps the most impressive tool I've found last year, introduced to me by some of the most productive technologist in the world. Evernote eliminated more than 90% of the paper in my life and eliminated nearly all the multiple tabs I used to leave in my web browsers, both of which distracted me to end. It can clear out your entire office clutter in one to three hours.
Evernote allows you to easily capture information from anywhere using whatever device is at hand, and everything is then searchable (read;findable from anywhere.

The book has numerous other suggestion to make you your day more productive and automate you life and make money by following simple and easy to steps.
Look forward to Learn, Do and Apply the strategies in this amazing book.

1st What's the single most effective way to grow your business and/or career?
Networking
The most successful people in business and in life have developed an effective network of contacts that they can draw upon. A quality network will help you develop your business, expand your career and lend a hand when time are tough.
The Top 25 is bases on the universal principle that "Givers Gain" and is an simple way to build an effective, powerful and influential network of people that you can tap into. Let's jump right into the six steps:
1. Create you Top 25 List:
List out all the people you know or would like to know better. You want to surround yourself with elite performers that will stretch, challenge and motivate you. Select high achieving positive people that have outrageous personalities and different perspectives. The more diversity the better. Keep going until you have a variety of 25 names. If you are having trouble coming up with names think family, friends, peers, mentors, clients bosses, competitors, employees, business owners and service providers.
2. Meet with Each of Them:
Take time to understand their story. How did they get where they are now? What challenges are they currently facing? What are their strengths? What are their interests? What are they looking for? What are their goals? The more detail the better. I suggest that you write this down so that you don't forget. You also want to get five business cards from each contact. Purchase a small business card book and keep it with you at all times!
3. Help Them Win:
Now the east part. As you go about your life, when you notice something that in your Top 25 is looking for, you make the connection. Maybe it's an article or book that they are interested in. It could be giving feedback or advice (only if asked) Perhaps it's just being there to listen and provide positive support.
Maybe it's connecting them with someone with similar interests, It might even be a referral! When possible hand out one of their cards (you are carrying their cards aren't you?) and follow-up with an email or phone introduction.
4. Give with No String attached.
To make your Top 25 work you need to be genuine. People know when you have ulterior motives. You want to be helpful and freely give your time and effort. Most importantly don't keep score! The point is to give without expecting something in return. We are tapping into the universal principle of "Givers Gain". If someone offers to help you or return the favor, jump all over it. Just make sure you don't take advantage.
5. Stay in Touch:
You want to stay in touch with your Top 25 at least once a month. Anything form a quick email, phone call, cup of coffee or meal. Find out what's happening within their life. How has their story changed? How have they moved toward their goals? Most importantly how can you help?
6. Upgrade Your Top 25
As you grow and expand you will encounter more people that you will want to bring into your Top 25. Go ahead! Twenty-five is just minimum. You also want to review the list and remove anyone that is draining your energy. Help and support then if they are going through a rough period. Put complainers and people with negative attitudes on probation. Drop them for your Top 25 if they don't turn around.
It doesn't matter if you are in career or run your own business, having an outstanding network will accelerate your results. Surrounding yourself with the Top 25 elite performers that you know will quickly challenge you to rise about your best. Start building your Top 25 today!
