True Wealth: Book Review

 Jim Pagiamtzis
Tremendous book to read even if you not wealthy yet!

  10 out of 10 stars

 About book:
 Congratulations. You’re rich.
So what’s next?
It’s an important question, a question few wealthy people ever ask themselves. And that’s too bad. Because contrary to popular belief, wealth won’t solve all your problems. In fact, if you’re wealthy, some of the most difficult, most complex challenges of your life may well be ahead of you.
Enter True Wealth, a financial handbook written exclusively for wealthy people. Inside, you’ll find comprehensive discussions of some of the financial and life challenges unique to high-net-worth individuals, along with strategies for overcoming those challenges. Throughout the book are numerous graphs, charts, and diagrams that make complicated issues easy to understand. Case studies and other examples demonstrate how specific strategies work in the real world, while a crisp, conversational style ensures you get the point without getting bogged down in jargon.
If you’re looking to learn how to become wealthy, True Wealth probably isn’t the book for you. But if you’re already wealthy, this book deserves a space on your shelf. Whether you’re a millionaire once or many times over, True Wealth will show you how to protect the wealth – and the life – you’ve worked so hard to build.

Apparently, Common Sense is not Common: Special Guest Post

It kills me to see so many entrepreneurs buying into programs, courses, and workshops taught by many of these, so-called, self-appointed “Experts and Gurus.”

I see it all the time. Entrepreneurs rush in to buy programs or workshops that promise great success, and yet months later, are no further ahead.

How do I know? I’ve asked entrepreneurs.

I simply look on Facebook and see who’s attending a workshop.

I keep track of their name, and then months later, message them and say, “I’m thinking of taking the same workshop, did it substantially increase your success?”

The answer I get, over 99% of the time is a resounding, “No!”

And usually, the only person that succeeds in making money is the self-appointed “Experts or Gurus” who run the event.

That’s because many self-appointed, “Experts and Gurus” don’t actually possess the experience or expertise to be able to truly help people.

In fact, I’ve seen several self-appointed, “Gurus” call themselves a Marketing, Facebook or Speaking “Expert,” when only a few months earlier, they were doing something entirely different in their life.
Now, all of a sudden they're an "Expert?" Seriously? Come on! That's more hype, than substance.
Let’s make Common Sense more Common.

Now, don’t get me wrong. There are many experienced and professional experts out there.
You just have to find the right ones that can help you. Not the fake ones.

And that means using your common sense.

Common sense, is loosely defined as "sound judgment.”

So, if you’re going to purchase a program or workshop to improve your skills and expertise, make sure you use sound judgement in choosing the right program and trainer.

Ask questions of the trainer. If you’re taking a Marketing or Facebook course/workshop, ask the trainer what experience they have.

Find out how many years of experience they have, who they worked for, what have they done etc.
Ensure that they have the prerequisite knowledge and expertise to actually help you – before giving up your hard-earned money.

The same applies if you’re taking a workshop or program on Speaking or how to land more speaking gigs.

Ask the trainer to provide the last six months of speaking engagements where they were paid to speak.

A professional speaker who is running a course on landing more paid speaking gigs, should (dare I say!), have far more paid speaking gigs than the average person.

And the proof to back it up.

If they can’t land many paid speaking gigs, how are they going to show you how to do it?

Know what I mean?

So, if you’re looking to purchase a program, a course or a workshop in the future, be smart.
Thoroughly check out the course and trainer beforehand.

And help put the Common, back into Common Sense...

Do your words have nothing to say?: Special guest post

Words can make or break your business.

Used correctly, words can create messages that get people to buy into what you are selling. And help you generate more success.

Used incorrectly, words simply have nothing to say. And can do more to hurt your business than help.
Like this little example I recently saw on Facebook …

It was a Facebook post for an upcoming event (read, the organizers were trying to promote their event!).

Of course, judging from the message, even the organizers didn’t think it was great event.
Here’s what the post said…

“Looking for something to do on Thursday, (date) in Toronto? Perhaps you might be interested in coming to the launch of "(name of event)".

(I’ve hidden the date and name, so I don’t disparage the event or organizers).

Why is this message wrong? There are many reasons.

The biggest, is there is no “Why.” Why should I come to the event? Why does it matter to me? Why should I care? (You get the message!)

Instead, the message comes off very weak. The first sentence starts, “Looking for something to do…”
Judging from these words, it appears the organizer is targeting people who have nothing to do and might want to do something, rather than sit at home doing nothing.

Not the greatest target market, if you know what I mean.

Come on! Do you really want uninterested people who have nothing to do, showing up at your event?

Hell no! Those people are not going to buy your products or services, because they don’t care!

They’re simply there because they have nothing to do.

The next sentence is even weaker with the words, “Perhaps you might be interested in…”

While bordering on redundancy, nothing says nothing, like the words, “perhaps” or “you might.” It’s almost like you’re apologizing for talking to them.

“Um, ahh, I’m sorry to bother you, but perhaps, um, you know, if you’re not busy or doing anything, you might want to um, well, like, ahh, come to my event.”

Seriously! Are you kidding me??? This is beyond bad and definitely not going to help you increase attendance at your event (or build your business!).

If you want to promote your event (or business for that matter), you need to tell the right people (your target market), WHY they should NOT MISS your event.

Be confident. And proud to tell them that your event is exactly what they need to help them.
If for example, you’re having an event to launch a new book to help with peoples’ fears, you could easily create a Facebook post like this…

“Want to get rid of your fear of flying? Then you must attend the launch of this much-heralded book, entitled, Letting Go of Your Fears.” (I made this book up, but you get the idea!)

The first part of this message identifies your target market, people who have a fear of flying.
The next part taps into your target market’s need, wishes or wants and gets them interested, because your event has a book that can help them let go of their fears.

You could even add another sentence that tells your targeted prospects how this will help them and why this is one event they should not miss.

And if you want to get more people to attend who have different fears, simply make another post (or several posts) each talking about a different fear (fear of crowds, fear of snakes, fear of large spaces etc.).

See what I mean? Don’t go creating marketing and sales messages with words that have nothing to say.

Make your words mean something.

Create your messages to attract people, excite them, entice them and move them to action.

You do that and you’ll get more people interested in what you offer.

And you’ll enjoy much more success…

Thinking of taking a course? BE AWARE: Special Guest Post

If you’re thinking of taking an online or in-person course, make sure you’re not wasting your hard-earned money.\
I see it all the time. Courses offered to teach you this or that and promise you great results.
But too often, those promises are broken the minute you hand over your credit card.

Take for example, recent Facebook posts I see advertising a Facebook Ads course that will teach you how to create Facebook ads, generate leads and turn those leads into customers.

I’ve witnessed several Facebook posts promoting the same event, yet, according to the event page, only a couple of people have signed up - and one is the instructor.

So, you have to ask yourself.

If the course instructor can’t create ads on Facebook, generate leads for the course and then turn those leads into customers (i.e. course attendees), how are they ever going to teach you?

Because, if they can’t quickly fill up their event, and when I say fill up, I mean, at least get 4-8 people, they may not be the Facebook expert they say they are. Or the course instructor you need.
It’s one thing to promise a course will teach you everything. It’s quite another to not be able to do it themselves.

I post this simply to ask you to be very careful when looking for a course to take.
Spend the time to review the instructor’s qualifications and ensure that they have the necessary expertise.

Call them. Message them. Ask them what experience they have, how long they’ve been doing this and what their results are.

You can even ask them for references from other satisfied clients.

Do your homework. I don’t want you to get taken advantage of by courses or instructors who have no legitimate expertise or experience.

Perhaps that’s why we have the old saying,

“Those you do, do. Those who can’t, teach.”

Special short-film Post: Standing As One - Kingscliff High School

One Vision Productions is proud to announce our latest IAS funded release 'Standing As One' by the super talented students of Kingscliff High School!

This deadly mob from Kingscliff High School are demanding social change with this amazingly powerful Hip-Hop film clip, created during the 8 week Music For Change Workshop. Their strong imagery tells a story of two worlds; the Dreamtime, where the ‘Old Ways’ were the guide, and the modern day where greed and corruption rule.

Their message is this… We must unite and strengthen our connections to ourselves, each other and mother Earth in order to build a better future for all.

One Vision Productions would like to thank all those involved, especially Kingscliff Aboriginal Education Officer Rosina Beam (Midge) for her awesome support throughout the workshop, and of course, the legends of Kingscliff High School who envisioned this wicked clip!!
