Avatar - The Way of the Water (2022): Movie Review

Jim's Review

Avatar The Way of Water has finally made to theatres after the original Avatar (2009) was a smashing success worldwide, making $1.46 billion worldwide

In this next chapter Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Ney'tiri (Zoe Zaldana) have a large family and are enjoying life for the most part. This is until there adolescent kid begin not to listen to them and get in trouble trying to be heroes!

This until Jake and his leave Pandora to go elsewhere because Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) and his gang of mercenaries on hot on his trail.

I won't reveal any more of the plot because it is a great movie to watch in whatever format you like, I watched it in 2D many people including Director James Cameron suggest in 3D

What I will say is this following.. it is 3hrs long!

It doesn't seem like it is while you are watching because the pace is very steady and interesting as the plot begins to reveal itself in very cool layered format.

Even though I gave it a high mark (well deserved!) I my movie opinion it could have been 30 minutes shorter they were many scenes that were very repetitive as if Mr. Cameron need to drive home the point.

Top Gun - Maverick (2022): Movie Review

Jim's Review

Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is back to train some new recruits for a dangerous mission.

He has to pick 6 new recruit to go a mission that require skill, patience and no fear.  Bradly Bradshaw (Miles Teller), Hangman (Glen Powell) and Phoenix (Monica Barbaro) are ready to face the intense pressure.

Lt Tom "Iceman" Kazanzky (Val Kilmer) make an impactful appearance to keep Maverick on the straight and arrow and fight any regrets he may have.

Now for the film. It has some spectacular flying shots outside in the air and in the plance.

The is a mission that will take place that requires "two miracles to happen" and that is a much I will say.

The drama and relationships are fully developed including a cool beach scene where they are playing volleyball and Adm. Beau 'Cyclone' Simpson (Jon Hamm) show up to learn about team building.

The final act is full of fast paced action and decisions on trust and friendship come in to play.

The need for speed was in full display for your enjoyment!

      Jim Pagiamtzis Review
Chadwick Boseman (Avengers Endgame, Black Panther, 42)  plays Andre Davis who gets involved in a case that is very perplexing to him from the very beginning. Sienna Miller plays Frankie Burns who partners up with Andre Davis to solve the horrible crime. Challenge is that they need to solve it in less than 4 hours!

Joker (2019) TIFF19 Movie Review

      Jim Pagiamtzis review
Spectacular performace (Jacquin Phoenix) Arthur Fleck as he is disregarded by society and goes down the rabbit hole of despair. He then crawl out a brand new man and unleashes his own reality on the world.

In the very climatic and horrific third act you feel his emotions through his words and find yourself asking the question. What would you do? How would you feel if the world did that to you?

The film raises important issues of mental health and other factor facing people in the new 21 Century as we are in crises whether we believe it or not.

The acts you will see may seem "crazy" and "out of control" the reality is they are happening right now all over the world and this movies raises the very important question What are you going to do about it!

Predator (1987) Special Edition- 2 dvd set: Movie Review

          Jim Pagiamtzis special review:
The film is spectacular feature Arnold Schwarzenneger and an all-star cast.

There is second dvd that has the making of the movie which was a very interesting to watch. The early renditions of the monster were horrible the Stan Winston stepped in and everything changed!

The icon creature came to life with Kevin Peter Hall giving the creature attitude and energy. Sadly Mr.Hall passed away of caner in 1991. Tremendous insights into all the characters and what made this action film a runaway success and spawning multiple sequels.

    10 out 10 stars

           About 2 dvd set

Product Description

A sneaky alien monster attacks commandos on a jungle mission in South America.

Additional Features

A legion of Predator fans will be grateful for the wealth of extras included on the collector's edition DVD. It's pretty standard stuff, however, mostly comprised of materials from the film's original 1987 making-of documentary, with new interview clips (featuring Carl Weathers, Bill Duke, Shane Black, and others) provided for retrospective history. John McTiernan's laid-back commentary is interesting primarily for his perspective on the production's troubled history; his appreciation of the cast; the deliberately "pornographic" gunfire scenes (intended to please studio executives with its sheer excessiveness); the laughable failure of the first (and immediately abandoned) Predator design; Schwarzenegger's weight loss (partially due to a nasty case of diarrhea); and various anecdotes relating to the challenges of filming in the jungles of Mexico. The text commentary is best reserved for devoted fans and film students, covering a wide range of behind-the-scenes details regarding stunt work, armory and ordnance, sound design, cinematography, and other primary aspects of production. The featurettes are brief and fairly routine, covering such areas as makeup, Schwarzenegger's leadership qualities on the set, preliminary special-effects tests, the modified gatling gun nicknamed "Ol' Painless," and a tribute to creature actor Kevin Peter Hall, who died in 1991. While most of this material was previously released on a European DVD, its region 1 debut was well-timed to coincide with the late-summer 2004 release of Alien vs. Predator. --Jeff Shannon  buy movie

Men In Black- International (2019) Movie Review

             Jim Pagiamtzis Review:
Men In Black is back with new agents in this reboot of a successful franchise held by Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jone for 3 films.
Agent H (Chris Hemsworth) and Agent M (Tessa Thompson) go on a worldwide adventure chasing The Hive and mysterious organization with plan to take over earth. Agent O (Emma Thompson) is the only returning MIB. The voice of  Kumail Nanjiani (Pawny) adds the comedic element that keeps the movie going. Sadly it doesn't help the film make the splash it needed to make this reboot memorable.
The magic that Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson had in Thor Ragnarok doesn't materialize and time seems very one-sided. Pawny is the glue that holds the movie together for the most part.
The climatic action sequence fizzle very quickly and by the time you get to the end scene it fails to impress and make you wanting more.
Reboot fails to revive the Men In Black chemistry that first three films had
