Journey to Ultimate Wealth Weekend

It was amazing weekend at the National Club in downtown Toronto. The 1st annual Ultimate Wealth Weekend was held by Paul Tobey of Training Business Pros and many special guests!

From Russel Oliver who may a great opening on Friday night. David Chilton. Author of Wealthy Barber books and currently on the Dragon's Den show shared his insight and experiences on how he created the Wealth barber book (great story) and shared his experience on the show.

There were numerous guest speakers that Paul Toby had invited to share on his stage.

I have attended Paul's event and crossed paths at various events in Toronto. It was great experience to volunteer for the weekend. I had my own events to do Saturday and Sunday and they supervisory staff gave me the flexibility to attend the in the afternoon on the weekend. Very grateful for that.

Had the great opportunity to meet amazing entrepreneurs and professionals who were on their journey of success. Special guest was Camille Ali who took advantage of my special offer and came to all three days!

Great to see Sujit Reddy, Randi Goodman, Vito Marchese, Jason Reid, Daniel Hanzelka, Janet Russ,
Claudia Harvey and Tanya May and so many new friendships were made. Look forward to connecting with many people I got business cards from.

Great passages from the book below:

"Each of us is just one contact away from having entire life change direction" Allison Graham

7 Biggest Mistakes made by entrepreneurs when attempting to network (grow) their business

In the process of  transition from being in a professional in a corporate environment to entrepreneurship, they will unwillingly fall into several networking traps. In time they will realize and get better in the process, until then below are certain areas that they will do incorrectly for the first few years.

1st. Talk to much

We have been talking and having conversation for many years, when it comes down to it. They will be so excited and passionate about their business (rightly so) that they will not be able to stop talking about than and everything else their doing. The professional they are speaking to may be able to hand some it (but not all of it!).
This will get better over time as they rejection begins to continue and the follow up phone calls and emails don’t get answered.

2nd. Give out Business cards to fast,

There is a term that  Cindy Mount from BNI calls “spray and pray” that many new entrepreneurs do. This is the act of going into a room and giving your card to everyone and saying ” this is my new business call me and let’s me show you the amazing plan, its awesome!” This  too will lead to failure in more way than they can image, from business cards being thrown out in the garbage at or after the event.
The entrepreneur receiving it will put you in his or her “crazy networker” mental folder and not go near you at any future events, or any time in the future refer you business.

3rd  Not listening enough

From Talk to much mentioned earlier to not listening enough. My mentor always said ” you have two ears and one mouth, you the proportiantly”  This is such a simple statement to make but a hard habit to break!
It all comes back to the excitement of passionately sharing your business over and over again, but not taking time to listen and possibly ask a great question! (will deal with this issue shortly”

4th Not asking good questions.

Many networking experts from Bob Burg Author of Endless Referrals  and Ivan Misner founder of  BNI have always say in their training about the importance in asking open ended questions so that you can engage in a conversation of mutual benefit. Not ask good questions will lead into a very short and no responsive conversation where you will not engage the person you are speaking too at any level.

5th Bad body Language

Being part of environment of professional entrepreneurs having proper body language is a big reflection on who they are and how they treat their business. It may seem as a minor thing but there could be huge way of not being an attractive and interesting person to speak to.  Moving your hands all over the place in conversations to not standing still and facing who you are speaking to will not create great speaking environment. Crossing your legs, folding your arms are not positive body language attributes to use in a networking environment.

6th Not offering value based information

The ability to have an engaging conversation that of meaning is important to you and the person you are engaging in conversation with. Not offering a tip, suggestion or recommendation doesn’t put you in the position of being able to possible get some great information in return or perhaps more!  There is lots of value that you have access to, that you can share and be of service. Not doing that puts you in position on not getting a business card or anything else of value from the potential networking attendee.

7th Not having a giver mentality

Bob Burg Author of Go-Giver shares in his book that it’s the power of “sharing value on ongoing basis” is where the true magic begins. Not having the giver mentality will only create a frustrating experience in a any networking environment. Being able to be a natural giver of your talents, insights and experiences will only enhance you ability to community and have better conversations. There is statement made by many ” what goes around come around” being a giver will tell you the world and universe and other in the room that are a give and are ready to be receiver.

Be aware of this seven mistakes as you begin your networking journey and make an mental effort to not go ‘through the rabbit hole” with any of these in the long term. It will not only affect growing your business but also make money with it too!

Creating a Quality Business Card

With the popularity of social media and electronic contacts, many people feel that business cards have become obsolete. On the contrary, business cards are more important today than ever.

Here's 5 things to think about when designing your next business card:
  1. Your business card is a direct reflection on you and your company. A cheap looking card can have a negative impact on your image.
  2. Be sure to only include the social media links that you don't mind your clients seeing. A personal Facebook page should be kept personal.
  3. Think about the stock it will be printed on. A card that feels good to the touch will have a positive impact beyond just its appearance.
  4. If you want your photo on the card, make sure it's professionally taken and "photoshopped" as needed.
  5. Don't leave the back of your card blank. List your services, insert a QR code, or just make lines for writing notes.

Networking to get results at events!

There are events and seminars happening throughout the month that you are attending and taking the time, energy and money to network. You must be prepared for the opportunity and be able to follow up with goal to achieve desired results.

Networking is concept that has to be done on an ongoing basis to create momentum to yield you results. Attracting qualified clients that you can offer you specific packages that you offer is the goal.

Connecting

Building your list in one aspect that is important to do a daily basis whether your meeting people online or offline, there are important resources that will begin to add up with connections on LinkedIn and other social networking sites you belong to.
It all begins with you business with is your billboard and your most important marketing tool you have that you can leverage in any situation. When you are at a networking event or going bowling with friends, being prepared for the opportunity is the most strategy to remember. American Express has a great saying “never leave home without it” same goes for you business card, its part of you like the clothes you wear every day.

Information

You have an expertise in specific areas from networking, wealth to resources you want to share, important aspect of networking is you to be able to fill the needs of others. Recently at an event where I noticed that attendee didn’t have a website for his construction business, high recommended that he should have a website that is prospective clients should visit, offered to email him some of my contacts to assist him with that.
When you hand you business cards out you can advise you contacts that “you appreciate referrals and will to offer compensation for completed transactions” this creates a strong signal of confidence your abilities and willing to create a win-win situation.

Monetize

The most important part in creating a strong networking system is the ability to monetize easy and effectively. Knowing your product and the package that specifically is best for you potential client.

Have a follow-up system that create results with every contact you meet will either you yield you a meeting to do presentation or connection for future.
Making follow-up calls within 24hr is imperative in your execution of your complete package. The ability to pick up of the phone and connection is the only way to create a strong connection. Do not rely on only sending email appreciating meeting your connections or just adding them to your LinkedIn connection or to your monthly newsletter, which can be done a later time.

Your goal is to deal with the strong leads in a timely manner. Increase you database is an important part of the networking strategy which needs to be done. Be aware that the warm leads are important because you either made a commitment with them or left a good impression that they want to learn more about your products or services.
Doing the above mention strategies over and over again will get you the results you need to have a growing and profitable business.

Go out there and Get Connected Make Wealth Happen!

Spotlight: Dorota Pilkowska

1st  Working in a diverse city like Toronto, how important is understand and learning how speak and networking with different people?

Being of a polish background and after living in the U.S and then coming to Canada I realized interacting with various cultures was a great opportunity to meet new people and grow my business. Currently I do a lot of networking in the Mississauga area. I like to invite friends from different cultures and business backgrounds to various networking events. It is important that people go to these events dressed for success and ready to talk about their business. I have had friends express their appreciation that they were invited and had the opportunity to participate and learn from various entrepreneurs who attended. Sharing my experiences and opportunities to network with others has led to increased business opportunities through referrals. I have even had friends refer me on my Facebook page!
2nd  What key lessons have you learned working in the Real Estate industry?

The biggest lesson I have learned is that you must be persistent and have determination. It can be very hard in the beginning to spend a lot of time knocking on doors for weeks and months only to be rejected. If you fail, you must learn from each experience. I would tell myself “this person was not meant to be my client” and I have learned to “move on”. As time passes it becomes easier. I would make notes about what was working and I learnt that I had to prepare myself more about the area I was “farming” (a marketing term). Being prepared to answer questions and share this market information with my clients is very important. It is always important to leave my clients with a positive impression of me and what I can provide them as their agent. Providing them with professional materials such as business cards and magnetic wall calendars is a good way to remind my potential client that I am there for them when the need an agent. With this information they may call me in the future or offer me as a referral to a friend. In many cases, being persistent paid off with phone calls several months later.

3 Ways to become a professional inviter

Three people say “No not interested” and then 4th person you speak says “Yes I am coming” this is just brief example but in the world of networking and speaking to different people you will meet in a given days or weeks ahead. Social media world has created the follower effect online which is a powerful movement. The only thing that can beat that is world of mouth marketing. Being a walking talking great networker can create interest in what you do and also path you take in your journey to create better value in attracting clients.

1. Events

Going to various events in your city you begin to better great understanding of the caliber of professionals and entrepreneurs you meet. As you do this you will get better understanding on the types of event and various entrepreneurs and professionals you will meet. Networking and exchange business cards you will begin to increase your list and resources.

When you are at a event you can ask specific what other events they will be attending in the coming weeks, you can make a big impact on building a long term relationship with them and help each other grow your businesses.

Have engaging conversation and ask key questions about their business and types of clients they are looking for will create an reciprocal interest in you.

“ You have two ears and one mouth, use them effectively and listen more”

2. Social Media

From Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter you can make daily comments as where you have gone and who you had met throughout the day. Take notice of the “like” feature and how many make comments about this. There are contacts that may be following you with interest because they are interested in your expertise or have met you in previous events.

Social Media as created this type of community and being aware of it can create an opportunity of emailing and calling this contacts to join you at other events. Reach and send an email or if they are online click on their name and engage in a conversation online. “Great to see you at the SOHO even last week. Would you be interested in joining me at the Small Business Forum I have an extra ticket?” Simple strategy to have group dynamic who are attending this upcoming event.

3. Phone call

Picking a business card and calling the script below can be a great way to invite people to other events. Hi  John, this is Jim Pagiamtzis. We met at the International networking show last week. As  I recall you said you had worked in the insurance industry there is an event happening next week in Toronto that I will be attending there will be ideal clients for your business, would like you to be my guest”

Having a strategy to utilize your network effectively will lead into stronger relationships with you contact and the ability to create better long term value in the future.
