Journey of playing ball hockey with 2 teams in the Summer of 1995

It was crazy summer of 1995 I made decision to play with 2 ball hockey teams at the same time in 4months.

1st team was very skilled and talented team, went undefeated 13-00-1. The tie was in part to a goal I scored, thus earning pendant as you see below

2nd team as very bad team that had a big heart! we went to finals and lost!

Casualty of all this is I had failed an Organizational Behaviour course that I had retake in night school, which I got an A

Moral of the journey. Be careful on the decision you make, there are winner and there a lessons!

Special Story: Nike story from my Centennial College -Personal Selling works!

It was my final year at Centennial college in1995 and was about to finish my 3rd year Busines Administration course.

I had to retake Personal Selling course because I got a unsatisfactory mark during the semester. So I took night school course a different college in the winter. This teachers name was Brian Kostas as season veteran in marketing.

The course was going really well until w reached the end where we had to a group project for the final part of the course

Our group decided to do on Nike. Phil Knight had created and build an amazing brand know all over the world.

We had put together a great present and were confident about getting a great mark. Right at the last minute one of our member wanted to show a great video at the end. Problem no of us from the group had seen it!  He said "Trust me!"  We said "yikes!"

It came time to show our presentation and it was going well until we reach the end and show the video. The teacher and class were amazed and so were we!

  Final Mark:  A for AWESOME!

I am huge fan of the nike brand but this story will be a special for me to share and remember!

Below is  not the video we share but story on Phil Knight and Nike

The Nike Story from my Centennial College days

Jim Pagiamtzis and the Nike Store in Toronto

It was spring of 1994 and I was taking a class at Centennial college of Arts and Technology in Scarborough,ONT.    The class was Marketing Analysis and the teacher was very tough on everyone especially the men! ( we had ideas why but weren't sure) at the end of the semester I got very poor grade.

I decided to this course in the evening at another Centennial College campus (Ashtobee)

The teachers name was Brian Kastas and he was awesome, patient with us and wanting everyone to get a good grades

For our final test we were put into groups to promote company and product. We chose Nike and Founder Phil Knight

I was confident we had great presentation but not sure if was top notch. The day of the presentation one of team member said "I have an awesome video that will get us A+). The team was not sure but decided to do it! (LOL)

At the end of the presentation we showed the video the class, in short it talked about Phil Knight vision of Nike and the history of the swoosh logo and the impact the brand has made worldwide

In the end . wait for it.. we all got an A+ for ingenuity and leverage of media

Moral of the Story;  Just Do It! and you will have an A for being Awesome!

Internship Students looking for Opportunities

I have International Post-Graduate students, in both the International Business and Project Management Streams at Centennial College and are available to start an unpaid internship starting in May. The students can work Monday - Thursday, for a 12 week period.

If you know of an opportunity or know someone that might have an opportunity it would be great to get a job description, something that might suit someone in the two programs that we have students in.

I would be more than happy to speak to you, to see if we can fit one of these eager students into your organization.

Over the years Centennial College has worked with both small-medium size businesses as well as mulit-nationals and have been very satisfied with the caliber of our students.

Please contact me, provide a phone number and I would be more than happy to speak to you further about my students.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Warmest regards,

Susan Kates - MBA
Professor and Internship Coordinator
