Nightmare Alley (2021): Movie Review

       Cinematic Masterpiece that will be studied for years to come!

Academy Awarding winning Director Guillermo Del Toro brings 1947 classic back to the silver screen as Stanton Carlisle (Bradley Cooper) and down on his luck New Yorker stumbles upon a carnival and learns the way of the clairvoyant from Zeena Krumblein (Toni Collette) and Pete Krumblien (David Strathairn).

He meets Molly ( Rooney Mara) who decides to follow him and take his act to the world.  Upon his stardom he meets Lilith Ritter and psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who he believes can assist his career provided some necessary information to improve his performance.

What follows is an emotion and gripping character driven performances that involved secrets from the past and hidden agendas that will have dire consequences by all.

The cinematic masterpiece will studied for years as director Guillermo Del Toro takes method acting to new heights with lighting, superb music and amazing action sequences to up close and endearing performances by everyone

The film does takes some time to unravel to the climatic 3rd act when all is revealed as who will survive the curse of tarot cars of Nightmare Alley

Filming was done in surrounding Toronto, Ontario region with lots of amazing places showcased from Casa Loma, Rosedale Valley road, The Carlu & Markham Fairgrounds.

In 1940s New York, down-on-his-luck Stanton Carlisle endears himself to a clairvoyant and her mentalist husband at a traveling carnival. Using newly acquired knowledge, Carlisle crafts a golden ticket to success by swindling the elite and wealthy. Hoping for a big score, he soon hatches a scheme to con a dangerous tycoon with help from a mysterious psychiatrist who might be his most formidable opponent yet.
