Antman at the Wasp Quantumania (2023): Movie Review

                                                                                                       

Jim's Review

Scott Lang ( Paul Rudd ) is back and he is trying to enjoy life with his daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) and Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne),  Janet Van Dyne ( Michelle Pfeiffer ) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas)

They are all having some quality family time as Scott Lang is enjoy success with his book and Hope Van Dyne is changing the world with new science.

The family time goes from bad to worse as Cassis Lang has been making innovations with a new device and quantum realm. This doesn't sit well with Janet Van Dyne who want her to stop it immediately as she has many secrets the she has not shared with the family as the time she spent in the quantum realm.

The quickly get all zapped and meet Kang The Conqueror  (Jonathan Majors) who has been stuck in the quantum realm and is been wanting to escape for long time. A version of Kang has already made an appearance in Loki Season 1 that version was very diplomatic.

All is explained about Kang and his journey and soon the real adventure begins by everyone to get back to the real world

There are lots of cool surprises with new character being introduced and some old one making a strange new appearance  M.O.D.O.K (Corey Stoll) who was yellow jacket in the the first film.

The look and feel of the quantum realm and has a Star Wars look and feel which makes it pleasure to watch and admire!

The story does move along as sacrifices will made by everyone and it will have impact on a few of them.

The climatic end will feature some cool antics by Scott Lang, Cassie Lang and Hank Pym who will bring in some cool reinforcements!

In the end Kang The Conqueror has only been delayed and will make his next appearance in Avengers The Kang Dynasty due out in 2025.

         Simply Marvelous!

         I collected comics when I was in my early 20's and have been a Marvel fan every since.  Marvel hit the big screen in 2008 with Iron Man and more title have followed  32 and counting...

                It was great honor to meet Stan Lee twice!  The first time was in late 90's at comic conference and then later on in 2016 at the Fan Expo in Toronto, we met him numerous times in multiple elevators because he used motorized vehicle to move around.

 

             In recent year Marvel Studios has brought so many movies to the silver screen and to streaming.  Moon Knight season 1, Wandavision and Loki were huge success.

  Most recent Marvel Studios and Kevin Fiege announced that they will take it easy on the number of titles being release from a fire hose to more a small release schedule and special presentation.

      

              Stan Lee has done many interviews regarding his career creating this characters.

    Small Scenes with some cool details you may have overlooked

  

                                                      

   In this early scene wolverine is in a bar and few patrons want their money back and he is alerted of danger from Rogue (Anna Paquin).

  

  This scene happened so fast you may not have noticed the Molson Export bottle on the table.

                                                                         

Stan Lee one of the original creators of Marvel characters has had numerous cameos in the film.

In this scene he is on the beach when the senator makes he appearance.

Spider-man No Way Home(2021): Movie Review

                                                                                                   

Jim's Review

Spider-man (Tom Holland) is back in Spider-Man No Way Home as he ask help from Dr Strange (Benedict Cumberbach) to undo what happen at the end of the last film Spider-man Far From Home (2019)

It has dire consequences at the sinister people come back from the past to cause issue from Peter and everyone around him

As the spell is cast enemies from Peter's past begin to show up and some of them are not happy and very confused as to where they exactly they are.

Darkness falls on Peter Parkers life as loved one pay the ultimate price and this forces make even more dire decisions affecting the universe he is part of

Heroes from the past are called up and they are even more confused as to why they are there trying to solve Peter's of the present problems

The ultimately unite together to put things back as they were and put everyone in the right home.

There are even more consequence that will happen and Peter Parker has to make more mature decisions on his life and who will ultimately remember him and the adventures they had together.

       The most unlikely superheroes are put together to due unfortunate circumstances to fight Ronan the Accuser
      This is important film the leads to event that occur in Avenger Infinity War (2018_ and Avengers Engame (2019)


 About movie:
 Peter escapes from the planet Morag with a valuable orb that Ronan the Accuser wants. He eventually forms a group with unwilling heroes to stop Ronan.


                                             

Black Panther (2018): Movie Review

               In this latest Marvel film Black Panther origins are revealed and the battle that he goes through to retain his thrown.  Ryan Coogler does a great to make the character act like human mixing in some jokes when he can.  Michael B Jordan,  Lupita Nyong'o, Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis and Forest Whitaker provide the supporting cast to bring this movie to life.
        
                 The action sequence build and lead to the bid fight for the climatic ending. Black Panther shows why he is the king of Wakanda and the journey the will make for the world to be a better place.

                The blockbuster numbers this movie made were huge yet in doesn't have that Marvel spark like some of the other films do. Black Panther made a big entrance and  Captain America Civil War (2016) and Avenger Infinity War (2018).
               It will be interested to see participation in Avengers Endgame (2019) and how he fits in the future MCU fims

  I saw it three times.  Spiderman (Tom Holland)  is in  London, Funny commentary from the beginning.

  Very intriguing to see Jake Gyllenhall as Mysterio and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is back!

 Nothing regarding how they got there post Avengers Infinity War ending. In my opinion releasing it now just creates more confusion!

 I am only watching Avengers End Game and that's it. Will be skipping this movie & Captain Marvel.

 It was a marvelous ten year, now it's time to watch other more no cgi films.
                                                    

The Marvelous Stan Lee has left a legacy for all us:Special Post

                                                           

        It was sad on Tuesday November 12,2018 Stan Lee the legendary larger that life creator of Marvel Comic passed away at the age of 95

         

I had a chance to meet Stan Lee in the early 2000's it was hilarious conversation then again in 2016 at Fan Expo. I was with Sujit K. Reddy and we bumped into him multiple times in the elevators throughout the day.
I was huge Wolverine and Spiderman and X-Men fan. Collected comics with my brother for many years, then the movies came out and I was hooked.
10 amazing years so far. Excelsior Mr. Stan Lee. Your legacy continues with all us! or as Wolverine say "Snikt Snikt!!"

Venom (2018): Movie Review

 Great action, Funny (unintentionally)

                                                    

                   Jim Pagiamtzis Review:

                 Little history first. Venom first made his appearance in Spiderman 3 (2007) as Topher Grace took on the role and did his best to portray the arch enemy of Spiderman. The movie was panned by critics as being way to dramatic and having to many characters.

            Fast forward to 2018 and Venom  has is own spinoff being portrayed by Tom Hardy this time who has a resume of playing evil characters Bane 2012 in The Dark Knight Rises, Mad Max Fury Road (2015) and Inception (2010)

            This time they got it right. The symbiote come from space and crash on earth. They are few more of them this time and two stories take some time to cross paths which makes the film drag at times.
                
                 Tom Hardy fits right in playing Eddie Brock and in no time gets in the middle of the action as he investigates Life Foundation which owner Carlton Drake is doing experiments on the homeless.

                 Eventually Eddie Brocks gets introduced into Venom and this where things should get scary but doesn't. It turns out to be a hilarious funny how Eddie Brock and Venom conversations are funny!

                  It does get serious in the third act as Venom does give in to save the world and they work together to defeat the evil counterpart.

                 In post credit scene Woody Harrelson is revealed as Carnage setting up for the impedning sequel.

                     X-Men face off against Apocalypse in this recent Marvel film.

                 Great cast but a very boring movie watch. Most exciting thing was when Wolverine shows up and SNIKT SNKT! the claws get the job done!

                       I hope X-Men- Dark Phoenix and New Mutants released in 2019 will be better than this. If so it may back to the drawing board for the X-Man franchhise

     The Antman returns with a new partner The Wasp who adds new fuel to journey Antman has gone throught since Captain America: Civil War.  New villains have shown up from Mr. Pym past and have created complications in getting his wife back from the quantum realm.
         The actions scenne are quick and hilarious and continue to build and they get to the climatic ending! 

      How does the Avengers Infinity War tie into this movie? Well you are have to see the post end credit to find out!

                    " A classic comes to life with non stop talking Ryan Reynods playing Deadpool!  Full of cheesy jokes and cool cameo by Stan Lee. Storyline is the normal I have problem so let turn into a superhero, NOT!   You have to watch to see why he become Deadpool (sike!) 
               The action sequences \are breathtaking and very well done. Acting no so much. Ryan Reynolds doesn't shut up the entire film. Seriously!  he doesn't!   BTW watch the end credits very funny!  Only thing I can say is FERRIS! was copied...
                      Sequel is coming out in Summer 2018

Why I refuse to watch anymore Marvel movies movies forward after 2018.

 It has been amazing 10 years following the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from the Hulk, Iron Man, Spiderman to the Avenger.

 2018 marks the 10th year and I have decided I will no longer be watching Marvel Movies after this year.

 Let me explain. I collected comics for years Spiderman, X-Men, X-Force, Spectacular Spiderman come to think I have couple of  boxes kicking around in the attic. But that came to an end and I sold them.

  Coming back to Marvel Studio has done a tremendous job created and give us fans amazing movies to watch. As I write this Black Panther is coming out today and I won't be watching it. (there not going to mis my $15) It's going to break weekend records. That's awesome!

  I am planning to watch Antman and the Wasp and Avengers Infinity War and after that its over!

   A the great Stan Lee has said "Excelsior!"

                 The Antman and Wasp Trailer was released today and looks awesome. I loved the 1st film and was super excited to see the next chapter.

                    The trailer revelas some images of Captain American Civil war and the epic battle that the Antman partcipated in. The Wasp (Evagaline Lilly) is revealved with (Henry Pim) Michael Douglas returning with all new gagdets. Paul Rudd is of course returning with his comical self in full tilt. Not much on the story smal glimpse of the baddy Ghost and of course Lawrence Fishbourne in the movie.

                   Three years ago during the impending launch of Star Wars - The Force Awakens my friend Sujit K Reddy came up with a great idea to start a movie club called

                  Work Hard Play Harder -Toronto


         He as was big movie (so was I) and wanted to invite fellow movie goers to joins for mastermind dinner and movie!
