(True) Story: Blood. Cops and cover-up

Blood. Cops and cover-up

It was 2008 and John (not his real name) was doing set work for Saw 3 in downtown Toronto. During this particular night he was doing work which covered him with blood the entire night. He didn’t think anything of it so he got in his care and went home.

On his way he stopped to put gas in his car and went in to pay for the gas. The gas attendant gave him this weird look as he paid and he left the gas station and went to his car and continued to his journey
About 20 minutes later he saw police signs behind and he pulled over.

The officer  approached and asked him to get out of his car. He asked “why?” and then the officer said again “get out of your car now!” so he got of his car and he put him on the ground and put his both hands behind his neck and cuffed him. He then swiftly felt the cops knee on his back and on the ground he was.

He continued to ask “what have done wrong, why have you cuffed me!”

The office went back to his fellow cops as they celebrated they had made a big arrest.

He then comes back and John says to him “ I am set director for saw, been on set all night this is fake blood. The call sheet is in my bag in the car you can call the producer his information is on the top left of the sheet. He is sleep right now but I want you to call him and verify that I am who say I am!”

The cop reluctantly goes to the car and get the backpack and brings it to him to get the sheet from the zipper with his teeth he pulls it out The cop goes back to his unit and about 5 minutes later he comes back.

He lifts him up and un-cuffs him and says ‘ Go the fuck home right now!”

John responds “ I want a copy of the police report with you names, badges numbers”

Cops says ‘If you want that then hit me and I will give you damn report”

John thinks for a bit and goes back to his car and drives away

He faced some ridicule at work for the next few weeks about cleaning up after work.

The reason I want to write this story is that perception and optics happen daily and even gas attendant, police officer can make a mistake.
