Is your business sprouting?

Spring is here, and it's a good time to ask yourself if your business is sprouting. What sort of idea fertilizer do you need to propel your business forward? What other soil ingredients does your business need to take root and bloom?

...and most importantly, how can we help?

We've moved in to the 3rd floor of 2241 Dundas St W in early Mar and love it here. The area is rich in creativity, the neighbourhood has a strong sense of community, and our new blend of members is inspiring.

We're here to help your business grow. Come in for a tour and let's see how we can help your business to start sprouting.

In this issue:
  • freelancecampTO3
  • Proposed BIA for our neighbourhood

Proposed BIA for Our Neighbourhood
At our last location, we were heavily involved with the local Business Improvement Area (BIA) and was disappointed to find out that our new location is in a deadzone between two BIAs. The Roncesvalles BIA northern border is Boustead Ave, the Dundas West BIA western border is Lansdowne Ave, and the Bloor by the Park BIA eastern border is Dundas/Bloor. The next BIA on Dundas is the Junction.

Thus, there is a number of businesses within a stretch of Dundas that isn't covered by any BIA.   It doesn't make much sense for the Bloor by the Park BIA to turn and extend southward, and even if the Roncesvalles BIA extends northwards, there's still the businesses that stretch of Dundas between Roncy and Landowne who would lose out on the collective benefit.

And so, we'd like to explore the possibility of starting the Dundas West Railpath BIA  (or whatever we want to call it) that would span from Dundas/Bloor to Dundas/Landsdowne, to include the businesses on Golden/Silver/Morrow.

Businesses in the immediate area are welcome to attend a meeting at Camaraderie on Apr 23 at 6:30pm to discuss the pros and cons of starting a BIA in our neighbourhood.

Event Spotlight
We've had some fun events in our space this month. Here are two of them:

Tea Tasting with Pluck Teas
Whether it's a warm cup of coffee on cool day, or a refreshing cool glass of iced tea on a hot day, the tea itself makes a difference! We had a tea tasting with Tea Sommelier Jennifer Commins from Pluck Teas, who creates and blends her own teas and packages them in sustainable packaging.

We'll soon be stocking Pluck Teas in our kitchen.

Creating powerful beauty images that will get you noticed
World renowned makeup artist Julie Bégin delivered two master classes in our space, one on beauty and fashion makeup where she encouraged students to push the limits and find inspiration from unusual sources, and the other in advanced circus makeup artistry.

Julie will be in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles in the next few months. (more info)

Now Hiring – Community Managers
We're looking for another one or two community managers who are interested in bartering for membership to help out around the space. If this interests you, please fill out our membership form at http://camaraderie.ca/coworking/ and be sure to mention “community manager barter” in the 2nd last field.

Art Needed
We love to display the works from local artists on our walls, and welcome a range of style and media. We have brand new walls to display your art, and can offer an opening reception as well.

If you would like display space for your art, please get in touch!
