Ghostbusters Afterlife (2021): Movie review

Jim's Review

I was huge fan of the original Ghostbusters (1984) and sequel Ghostbusters 2 (1989) and waiting for a third that never came. The cast hit movie stardom with all types of movies and was not until Ghostbuster (2016) with all female cast brought the ghost and goblins back. The movie was heavily panned by critics and we had hope that they could fix it with a new film

Fast forward to 2021 and Jason Reitman the son of Ivan Reitman took the reins of Ghostbuster franchise and created a cool backstory with young cast and old origin story to theatres in November 2021

This photo had the internet buzzing in the summer 2020

Now to the movie review

The plot slowly begins to unravel which I enjoyed because Director Jason Reitman need to remind and educate everyone as what had happened in the previous two films.

Mr Goober (Paul Rudd) is a science teacher who has done some research on mysterious rumblings that have been happening in the town. He then meets up with some kids who also have some questions of their own.

The plot begins to unravel with some cool cameos from Janine Melnitz (Annie Potts) and Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) and this is all I will share!

As everything begins to unravel and finally come to the climatic end you will feel happy and little sad to see some movie magic happen to bring the entire family of Ghostbusters together

King of Cheer: Book Review

Jim's Review

A truly remarkable career with the insight how he started and the journey he went to become something he new he could despite some personal struggles.

Every chapter has some cool strategies on success and unique personal stories on his journey becoming one the most renowned cheering personalities all over th world!

10 out of 10 stars

About book
We've all seen him. The wild dancing guy throwing shirts at major sporting events from the Olympics to the NBA Finals. And we've all wondered..."Who IS that guy?" THAT guy is...Cameron Hughes. And yes...THAT's his job.For over 26 years, Cameron Hughes has ignited crowds at sporting events across the globe. The only professional sports entertainer of his kind in the world, Cameron has performed at over 1,500 events including 2 Olympic Games, 5 NBA Finals, 2 Stanley Cup Finals, and the US Open tennis tournament. His relentless optimism, infectious cheering, and unbridled dancing have delighted and energized unsuspecting crowds, infusing Cameron's indelible spirit in over 30 million people's memory banks – often without anyone even knowing who the man with the famous dance moves really is. So now, for the first time ever, Cameron is letting everyone in on his big secret - how he became the world's first professional fan.

His new memoir KING OF CHEER is an inspiring story of perseverance and self-belief that recounts how he took his genuine love for people and turned it into the most unlikely of careers. Starting from humble roots in Ottawa, Canada, this is the once-in-a-lifetime collection of his best stories from a love-able underdog who couldn't make his high school basketball team but would eventually rub shoulders with the titans of sport on the world's biggest stages. Cameron has showcased his engaging style of bringing people together during memorable interactions with the likes of Steve Nash, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Connor McDavid, Wayne, and Janet Gretzky, Michael Andretti, Katie Couric, Alanis Morrissette, Trevor Noah, Russell Peters, Prince, a Supertrooper, and even a few Prime Ministers.

He ignites a spark in everyone he meets, creating great stories that are ready to share. Although Cameron specializes in helping people laugh and let go, the heart of his story is equally about taking risks, challenging social conventions, seeking peak performance, and contributing to a greater purpose. His unorthodox method of connecting and inspiring crowds have been put into action not only at the world's highest-profile sporting events but also at corporate events for some of the world's most renowned companies, and in philanthropic service to those in need.

Behind KING OF CHEER is also a uniquely human story, as Cameron recounts the highs and lows of his improbable journey. From his lifelong struggles with ADHD to difficult family challenges in high school - a moment that would shape the rest of his life - KING OF CHEER is a transcendent celebration of the human spirit. In Cameron's own words, "I hope my story will inspire you to cheer a little louder, smile a little wider, dance a little crazier, contribute to your team, be fearless, and most importantly, to GET UP and become your own biggest fan. I'm thrilled to take you on my journey and show you the true power of cheer."

The Beauty of Discomfort: How What We Avoid Is What We Need: Book Review

Jim's Review

Amanda Lang has put together a terrific book of stories that illustrate the discomfort that led to success

9 out of 10 stars

about book

Why do some people drive change while others are blindsided by it?

Why are some people able to adapt and thrive?

How can we make change easier?

Truly successful people don’t merely tolerate discomfort—they embrace it and seek it out again and again. Business founders and university students, top athletes and couch potatoes, meditation gurus and military leaders all have very different ways of coping with discomfort, but the most successful among them believe that withstanding discomfort is a skill that has helped them in hugely positive ways. Some were forced into discomfort through no choice of their own—a life-altering illness, a business fiasco—while others signed up for it because they had goals they were determined to achieve.

Some degree of discomfort is inherently good for you. It can spur you on, pushing you to test your own limits. Learning to tolerate, and then embrace, discomfort is the foundation for change, for individuals and businesses alike. Becoming comfortable with discomfort won’t just make us more resilient and more successful, however we define success. It will also make us happier.learn more and buy book

Dwayne De Rosario is one of MLS’s 25 Greatest Players

The autobiography of one of the best male soccer player to ever come out of Canada. Before Beckham, Kaká, Rooney, and Zlatan, DeRo was the godfather of Major League Soccer.

DeRo is the life story of one of the greatest athletes Canada has ever produced. Born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario, Dwayne De Rosario wasn’t expected to make it out of high school, let alone to the top of soccer world. As part of a family of five, growing up in a one-bedroom apartment, he had to work for everything he had and sometimes that meant doing things he realized he didn’t want to do. It was soccer that saved him from a life on the street.

For the first time, Dwayne shares many heartbreaking, life-altering stories from his mischievous childhood, an upbringing that made him the hungry, successful, superstar athlete he became. His strong Caribbean heritage shaped the person and the player the world knows as a four-time MLS Cup champion, seven-time MLS All-Star, Canadian national team captain, and record goal-scorer. He helped put Canadian soccer on the map, and it’s clear that pursuit of greatness didn’t come without struggle, both on and off the field. Now, DeRo hopes to inspire, and train, the next great Canadian soccer star. learn more and buy book

About book
The inspiring, life-changing bestseller by the author of LEADERS EAT LAST and TOGETHER IS BETTER.

In 2009, Simon Sinek started a movement to help people become more inspired at work, and in turn inspire their colleagues and customers. Since then, millions have been touched by the power of his ideas, including more than 28 million who’ve watched his TED Talk based on START WITH WHY -- the third most popular TED video of all time.

Sinek starts with a fundamental question: Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their success over and over?

People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers had little in common, but they all started with WHY. They realized that people won't truly buy into a product, service, movement, or idea until they understand the WHY behind it.

START WITH WHY shows that the leaders who've had the greatest influence in the world all think, act, and communicate the same way -- and it's the opposite of what everyone else does. Sinek calls this powerful idea The Golden Circle, and it provides a framework upon which organizations can be built, movements can be led, and people can be inspired. And it all starts with WHY.

I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump's Catastrophic Final Year: Book Review

Jim's Review

This is one of thickest books I have read regarding Donald J. Trump's four years as President of the United States. It is very descriptive with conversation held in the White House and with everyone involved.

It will have you wondering how did they get anything accomplished!

10 out of 10 stars

About book
An instant #1 New York Times bestseller.

The definitive behind-the-scenes story of Trump's final year in office, by Phil Rucker and Carol Leonnig, the Pulitzer-Prize winning reporters and authors of A Very Stable Genius.

“Chilling.” – Anderson Cooper
“Jaw-dropping.” – John Berman
“Shocking.” – John Heilemann
“Explosive.” – Hallie Jackson
“Blockbuster new reporting.” – Nicolle Wallace
“Bracing new revelations.” – Brian Williams
“Bombshell reporting.” – David Muir

The true story of what took place in Donald Trump’s White House during a disastrous 2020 has never before been told in full. What was really going on around the president, as the government failed to contain the coronavirus and over half a million Americans perished? Who was influencing Trump after he refused to concede an election he had clearly lost and spread lies about election fraud? To answer these questions, Phil Rucker and Carol Leonnig reveal a dysfunctional and bumbling presidency’s inner workings in unprecedented, stunning detail.

Focused on Trump and the key players around him—the doctors, generals, senior advisers, and Trump family members— Rucker and Leonnig provide a forensic account of the most devastating year in a presidency like no other. Their sources were in the room as time and time again Trump put his personal gain ahead of the good of the country. These witnesses to history tell the story of him longing to deploy the military to the streets of American cities to crush the protest movement in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, all to bolster his image of strength ahead of the election. These sources saw firsthand his refusal to take the threat of the coronavirus seriously—even to the point of allowing himself and those around him to be infected. This is a story of a nation sabotaged—economically, medically, and politically—by its own leader, culminating with a groundbreaking, minute-by-minute account of  exactly what went on in the Capitol building on January 6, as Trump’s supporters so easily breached the most sacred halls of American democracy, and how the president reacted. With unparalleled access, Rucker and Leonnig explain and expose exactly who enabled—and who foiled—Trump as he sought desperately to cling to power.

A classic and heart-racing work of investigative reporting, this book is destined to be read and studied by citizens and historians alike for decades to come. learn more and buy book
