It is with deep sadness that Donna Messer the Queen of Business Networking passed of away on Friday April 3,2015. She has taught and inspired many.
I had read her articles for years before I had the great honor to speak with her on the phone and meet her a various events in the Toronto. Most recently in Sept 2014 at the International Centre for The Franchise show
Below is an interview she did with Jennifer Beale
Donna Messer and Jim Pagiamtzis at the Franchise Show at Int'l airport on September 2014
She fought a valiant and dignified battle with cancer, which cannot come
as a surprise to anyone who knew her. Donna was always strong willed,
focused and dignified. She passed away peacefully with family by her
side, support and love all around.
We thank the nursing staff of the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital
for their wonderful care. You all truly made a very difficult time more
bearable.
There are certain points in time when the stars mysteriously align.
Today was one of those days. On Friday, April 3rd, Donna was born, and
also passed. Both dates were a Good Friday, and fell within Passover.
Both dates also mark the headnote and footnote in the story of an
amazing soul.
Those of us who were touched by, and had the opportunity to talk to
Donna are truly fortunate. We rejoice her presence on earth and remember
our time with her well. It is presumed that she is currently in charge
of networking in heaven.
Donna was a mother, grandmother, businesswoman, public speaker,
accomplished writer, friend and mentor. She was a positive and welcomed
impact on her community and a highly sought after source of knowledge
and support.
Our mom influenced a great many people's lives and has not only been a
supporter but also a champion for countless causes, charities, small
businesses and individuals. It her spirit, there is a Legacy Foundation
in the works. It will be established as soon as possible in her name.
For those of you in Donna's network, we will be in touch with details regarding an upcoming celebration of her life.
With our deepest love,
Richard, Debbie, Lauren. Madison, Keegan and family
In September 2014 I ventured into the world of acting and what an experience it was.
I did eight auditions and I got them all! Yes you read it correctly!
I have to admit in the beginning it was very stressful and exciting to try and impress the directors and producers for the various roles I was going after. As time passed it become little easier.
One memorable audition I want to share happened in November where I went to audition for a roles that I didn't know much about. Going blind into a role doesn't give you a framework to work with.
I walked into the audition room and I was given an air duster and told to sell it. I was very confused and bewildered and then the casting director Albert Frank said "make the impossible possible" and the I had a epiphany and I asked the question "What would Jim Carrey do?" and then all the movie I had watch the Canadian superstar do over the years from Dumb and Dumber, The Mask, Liar Liar flashed through my mind
I began to say things like "This is not just for your computer you can use it for your arm pits, your hair and anything else" Albert Frank expression was priceless!
Every audition I did after that I used the same question, from dancing merenge with an invisible woman at the Fraser Institute in Toronto to acting as doctor and villain.
Moral of story: It's not just watching a movie, but turning the ideas upside down and acting and thinking a different way. That gets people attention!
It was amazing evening to with 1000+ Panam/Parapan volunteers at the Royal Ontario Museum. It was great to walk around and see how really BIG dinosaurs were when the roamed the earth millions of years ago.
It was an amazing evening to share insights on email marketing at North Humber College.
Have the opportunity to share strategies on email marketing using Constant Contact and also have them actually do a campaign was event better to learn do apply the concepts I had shared throughout the event.
